1:00 - 1:50 p.m. Topic:” Trends and Tactics Utilized in the Commission of Internet Fraud” Special Agent Gilbride will focus on the current Trends and Tactics utilized in the commission of Internet Fraud. During the past several years, cybercrime has cost the U.S economy billions of dollars in financial loss. The focus of this presentation will be on the commonly employed tactics used to compromise victims, as well as reducing risk of becoming a victim. The presentation will follow the path of a compromise from the point of intrusion to the sale of the stolen information, showing how quickly and easily. network intruders profit from the theft of vital data.

Speaker: Special Agent Brad Gilbride Special Agent Brad Gilbride has served with the United States Secret Service since 2008. SA Gilbride is currently assigned to the Secret Service Washington Field Office in the Electronic Crimes Task Force. He is a certified computer forensics examiner, conducting forensic exams of Windows PCs and servers, while specializing in examination of Mac systems. In addition, SA Gilbride investigates network intrusion cases, to include compromises of Point of Sale systems and financial institutions. SA Gilbride received a Masters of Science in Telecommunications, a Graduate Certificate in Computer Forensics and Security and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from George Mason University.

2:00 - 2:50 p.m. Topic: “Review of US Federal Budget Outlook” The presentation will give an in-depth review of the U.S. federal budget outlook with an examination of recent policy changes and their impact on the deficit. In addition, the presentation will review sequestration and the potential impact on the U.S. and regional economy, how much deficit reduction remains and the major challenges to the long-term budget outlook.

Speaker: R. Andrew Bauer, Economist, Research/Regional, The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Baltimore Branch R. Andrew (Andy) Bauer is a regional economist in the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. Dr. Bauer is responsible for monitoring and analyzing macroeconomic and regional economic conditions, developing tools and methods to identify changes in the economic outlook, and track developments. He regularly speaks on national and regional economic conditions, Federal Reserve policy, and banking conditions to academic groups, business associations, and civic organizations. He is also an affiliate assistant professor at Loyola University and instructor at the Maryland Banking Association’s Banking School. Prior to joining the Richmond Fed in 2006, Dr. Bauer worked in the macroeconomic policy group in the Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. At the Atlanta Fed, he provided support for monetary policy and conducted research. Dr. Bauer co-authored several articles on macroeconomic forecasting, consumer inflation measures, and evaluating shocks to the U.S. economy over the business cycle. Dr. Bauer received a Ph.D. in economics from Emory University and a B.A. from American University.
