Speaker: Susan Hogan, NBC4.
Susan Hogan is the Consumer Investigative reporter for News4, continuing NBC4’s decades-long mission of providing important and impactful information to people in the Washington region.
After covering consumer news for almost 25 years in New England, Hogan joined News4 in early 2016, continuing NBC4’s strong focus of providing important and impactful news to our viewers. Through her NBC4 Responds campaign, Hogan works with a team of specialized producers to investigate consumer complaints. Their goal is to recoup money and get refunds consumers deserve.
Hogan began her career in Boston and Bangor, Maine. She joined WPRI-TV in Providence in 1992 and built up the station’s consumer unit to a well-known entity. Her reports helped viewers save time, exercise caution and recover millions of dollars over the years. Her work has been recognized many times, including by two Attorneys General who presented her with the prestigious Justice Award in recognition of her commitment to consumer protection.
Hogan is a native of New England and a graduate of Syracuse University. She is an avid runner, completing both the 2014 and 2015 Boston Marathons. She has three children and lives in Northern Virginia.
This presentation will cover various cyber crimes that are being encountered by the USSS, steps that can be taken to prepare for a cyber incident and the best practices for responding and reporting cyber incidents.
Speakers: Michael Moran - Special Agent
Michael Moran is a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service (USSS). He is currently assigned to the Washington Field Office and is a member of the Electronic Crime Task Force (ECTF). The ECTF is the Cyber forensics and network intrusion response arm of the USSS. Michael is a Network Intrusion Responder responsible for the identification, mitigation, and remediation of network intrusions, unauthorized access, malicious hacking, and other network based crimes. This includes intrusions into financial sector computer systems, corporate storage servers, Payment Card Industry services, and protected computer system.
Prior to his career as a USSS agent, Michael was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Forensic Accountant. He has undergraduate degrees in Business Administration and Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Accounting and Information Systems from the University of Kansas. In addition, Michael holds certifications in Fraud Examination (CFE) and Ethical Hacking (CEH).
Course attendance recommended for 1 CPE, CAE, CTP and FP&A credit per 50 minutes.

Sessions generally will be cancelled only for inclement weather. If the U.S. Government closes due to severe weather, the session will be cancelled. Every effort will be made to notify registered participants of the cancellation by email. In the event of advance payments, participants may request funds be applied to the next upcoming meeting provided 48 hours of notification are given.
